Christmas - make your own traditions
Family activities sheet No 10
- Volunteer at your local homeless shelter, foodbank or soup-kitchen (call first to check what help they need).
- Buy or make a new Christmas tree decoration for each child in the family. It can reflect any highlight from the year - maybe they were the swimming champ, maybe they went on camp somewhere special. When your children are old enough to leave home they can take all ‘their' decorations with them to start their own Christmas tree.
- Starting on 1 December, read a Christmas story every night before bed, leaving your favourite for Christmas Eve.
- If you don't have a chimney for Santa to come down make him a special Santa key for the front door. Hang it with the Christmas wreath on the front door.
