Family violence is a key issue for the Families Commission. Its role is to research, advocate and promote understanding of the issues relating to families. Underpinning all its work is a strong commitment to the development of a culture that does not tolerate violence.

Discipline in Context

Families' disciplinary practices for children aged under five

Kiwi families say they are increasingly using positive parenting techniques because they work, according to 100 ordinary families’ descriptions of their own parenting methods.

This report brings together New Zealand's family violence statistics to establish a baseline against which future trends can be measured.
