What's the law with restricted licences?
Your teenager must carry their restricted licence at all times when driving.
Restricted licence conditions include:
- Your teenager can drive on their own, except between 10pm and 5am, when a licensed supervisor must be in the front passenger seat. This person must have a current full New Zealand driver licence which they've held for at least two years.
- Must only drive an automatic, if they sat their driving test in such a vehicle.
- Must not carry passengers unless there's a supervisor.
