What's the law?

In New Zealand, a person buying cigarettes must be aged 18 or older. It is illegal to give cigarettes to someone below this age. Anyone who does so can be fined. Under the Smokefree legislation, no one can smoke in an enclosed workspace or restaurant — you have to go outside. Cigarette advertising on television, in-store, in magazines and on the streets is banned.
