Key facts on NCEA

There has been a lot of discussion about NCEA in the media. Many parents still feel confused about what it all means.

NCEA stands for National Certificate of Educational Achievement. It is the main secondary school qualification for students in years 11-13. NCEA replaced all these exams: School Certificate, University Entrance as an exam, and Bursary.

NCEA can be gained at three levels, usually:

  • Level 1 in year 11
  • Level 2 in year 12
  • Level 3 in year 13
