About this site
We've talked to the experts and everyday families/whānau to gather practical information on parenting. This website has information, advice and links to resources on important issues faced by New Zealand parents and whānau.
Under each of the topics listed on the left, you'll find an overview page, some useful hints and tips, and links to organisations able to provide in-depth information. Many of these organisations also offer resources, services or are able to respond to questions.
If you need emergency help however, telephone 111.

"Many New Zealand parents feel under-valued. At the Families Commission we want to help change this. Our society must show we support and understand the importance of parenting. We need more family-friendly work options and more paid parental leave. Information and support for parents should be readily available and actively promoted so that parents can find easy ways to build on their skills at all stages of their children's development." more...
